Homage to Calvary – banner campaign with the Are Guild in the city centre of Ahrweiler – April to June 2017
To mark the farewell of the Ursulines from the Kalvarienberg convent, some artists of the Are Gilde designed banners for the town centre of Ahrweiler – an idyllic small town between the vineyards in the Ahr valley (Rhineland-Palatinate) with an enclosed old town wall and 4 town gates.
My banner is a reminder that generations of children from the Ahr valley were taught by the nuns and prepared for life. Sister Maria’s blue eyes, the protection under the cloak of the convent have imprinted themselves on its little visitors – as I was told by former pupils.
